New information has surfaced about the business arrangements surrounding Sean “Diddy” Combs’ nightclub appearances in the period before his legal troubles overtook the headlines.
According to documents reviewed by Page Six, the music executive attended a high-profile event in Miami in 2023 under an agreement that required a $100,000 appearance fee to be paid in cash. The contract also directed the payment to a corporate entity named after his mother, Janice Combs.
The booking took place on May 4, 2023, at M2 nightclub, where the Bad Boy founder was billed as a featured guest for a Race Week kickoff party tied to the city’s Formula 1 festivities.
At the time, the event was just another glamorous stop on the celebrity nightlife circuit.
In hindsight, it reads very differently.
The contract details
Organizers reportedly received the agreement just days before the appearance. It specified that the six-figure fee would be paid in two installments and that all payments were to be made in cash, following written instructions.
The contracting company listed on the paperwork was Janice Combs Music Holdings Inc., a name that quickly drew attention once the documents became public.
While such structures are not unheard of in entertainment — where artists often route income through corporate vehicles — the optics have raised eyebrows given what unfolded the following year.

From party headlines to criminal court
Less than a year after the Miami appearance, federal agents raided Diddy’s properties as part of a rapidly expanding investigation.
By that stage, he was already battling multiple civil lawsuits seeking significant damages, and media coverage surrounding the mogul had intensified dramatically.
What once looked like routine celebrity business now appeared to sit in the shadow of far more serious developments.
The charges and the verdict
In September 2024, Diddy was indicted in federal court on allegations including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
The trial became one of the most closely followed celebrity legal battles in recent memory.
By July 2025, the jury delivered a mixed outcome. He was acquitted on the racketeering and sex-trafficking counts but found guilty on two charges related to transportation for prostitution.
He later received a sentence of four years and two months in prison, along with a $500,000 fine and five years of supervised release.
Where things stand now
Diddy is currently serving his sentence at Fort Dix, New Jersey. Several civil cases have also been resolved, including one brought by former partner Cassie Ventura that was reportedly settled for $20 million.
Representatives for the artist did not respond to requests for comment regarding the Miami appearance agreement.
Why the story is drawing attention
High-priced club bookings are common for major stars, and six-figure guarantees are part of the economics of elite nightlife. Promoters frequently rely on celebrity draw to sell premium tables, attract sponsors, and dominate social media feeds.
What makes this instance notable is timing.
The arrangement offers a snapshot of how business operated shortly before the narrative around one of music’s most powerful figures shifted from champagne-lit venues to courtrooms.
